We are in search of a seasoned Vice President of Manufacturing Operations / General Manager to spearhead our production activities and foster ongoing growth and operational efficiency.

Position Summary:

The Vice President of Manufacturing Operations / General Manager will oversee all facets of our sheet metal fabrication plant, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of production, quality, and safety. This role encompasses full P&L accountability for the manufacturing facility, including precision sheet metal operations, coatings, quality assurance, environmental health and safety (EH&S), and product delivery. The ideal candidate will be an innovative leader with a robust understanding of sheet metal fabrication and the ability to inspire and manage a diverse workforce.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management: Provide dynamic leadership to all plant personnel, cultivating a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and accountability. Mentor and develop department heads and supervisors to ensure seamless operations throughout the facility. The VP/GM plays a pivotal role in establishing a culture that drives efficient and cost-effective business outcomes while ensuring exceptional customer service. This leader should remain composed under pressure and be approachable during challenging situations, inspiring the team to achieve significant objectives.
  • Innovation & Adaptation: Bring fresh ideas to the forefront to foster innovation and implement change. Champion continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices. Adapt to evolving business requirements, ranging from straightforward tactical execution to complex strategic challenges requiring prompt decision-making and appropriate actions.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Address customer needs and expectations effectively. Resolve any production or delivery-related issues promptly and professionally. Be accountable for the overall success, profitability, and customer satisfaction across all accounts and operations.
  • Operational Oversight: Supervise all production processes, ensuring timely manufacturing of products that meet quality standards while optimizing costs. Implement and monitor scorecards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency and ensure goals are achieved within designated cost, revenue, and profit parameters.
  • Strategic Planning: Formulate and execute both short-term and long-term operational strategies aligned with corporate objectives. Identify opportunities for process enhancements, cost savings, and capacity growth.
  • Quality Assurance: Guarantee that all products conform to customer specifications and internal quality standards. Collaborate closely with the quality assurance team to address any concerns and promote continuous improvement in product quality.
  • Safety & Compliance: Advocate for a safe workplace by enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular safety audits, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in manufacturing leadership and plant management within the sheet metal fabrication sector.
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership at the General Management or VP of Operations level.
  • Experience in building high-performing teams focused on collaboration and driven by metrics and data, utilizing scorecards, KPIs, and measurable deliverables.
  • Proven success in leading a manufacturing facility with a strong emphasis on quality, efficiency, and cost management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, equipment, and industry standards.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experienced in managing customer relationships and contracts.
  • Familiarity with purchasing, materials management, and supply chain operations in a high-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial oversight.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field; an MBA or other relevant Master's degree is preferred.
