Our Team
The Alpha Platform has established a Business Risk Management function that improves risk management in the first line of defense through implementing controls, monitoring, and testing, as well as oversight activities. As a Business Risk Manager (BRM) Officer, you will be a key contributor within the first line of defense risk management program, acting as a valued partner to the Alpha Platform business in identifying, assessing, mitigating, and reporting risk. You will also advise the Alpha Platform business on how to effectively balance commercial considerations with the risk excellence objectives established by business leadership.
Your Responsibilities
As a Business Risk Management Officer, you will:
- Document and communicate results of reviews, including issues and recommendations, to process owners and senior management.
- Advise on the design and implementation of new controls.
- Use available data to compile responses to client risk questionnaires and support client audit requests.
- Assist in the execution of risk assessment programs.
- Assist in the oversight of Issues Management across Alpha.
- Analyze root causes and trends in the Alpha Incident Management process.
- Initiate communications with key stakeholders for inconsistencies identified and follow through to successful resolution.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of procedure documents, trainings, and FAQs.
- Establish positive relationships with key functional teams and leaders within first line of defense business lines, second line of defense, and auditors.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of State Street's products, emerging technologies, and industry trends.
- Maintain the highest level of personal integrity in all dealings, thereby mitigating reputational risk to State Street and its customers.
- Other tasks as required.
We are looking for candidates with 2-5 years of background/experience in risk & control (e.g., Risk Management, Compliance, Audit) in the financial services or fintech sectors. You should have strong organizational skills, the ability to collaborate and drive execution within the organization, and the ability to empathize and connect stakeholders with different perspectives. Strong analytical skills, including intermediate data analysis, are also essential. Additionally, you should be able to work independently and with virtual teams across different teams and jurisdictions, have strong time management skills, and be self-driven and proactive. Effective communication, written and verbal, is also crucial. Knowledge of financial industry and advanced PC literacy, including PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Office, are also required. Knowledge of Archer Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) Application is a plus.
