Overview:

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing all aspects of construction activities. This role involves direct supervision of construction staff, managing subcontractors, planning and scheduling work, coordinating materials, ensuring quality control, maintaining safety standards, and fostering positive customer relations. The superintendent will be actively present on-site daily to enhance productivity, ensure work quality, address challenges, and uphold safety and cleanliness protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate all construction operations.
  • Utilize communication tools effectively to maintain collaboration with the project team.
  • Manage the construction timeline; proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to oversee budget management.
  • Schedule necessary inspections throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop work schedules and sequences.
  • Comprehend project contract stipulations, plans, and specifications.
  • Ensure an organized job site, including the construction office.
  • Adhere to safety regulations by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Be prepared to work extended hours and weekends as project demands dictate.
  • Maintain precise records of hourly payroll.
  • Direct all field personnel and subcontractors effectively.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction activities and safety compliance.
  • Establish, implement, and uphold a quality assurance program for both self-performed and subcontracted work.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and team members.
  • Exhibit professionalism and respect towards clients at all times.
  • Manage job site safety and enforce adherence to company safety policies among all personnel.
  • Commit to fostering a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Oversee the completion of the final punch list.
  • Direct all media inquiries to the appropriate company executives.

Physical Requirements:

  • Travel to and from project sites.
  • Relocate for out-of-town projects as necessary.
  • Ability to navigate various project areas, including climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Capable of working in diverse physical positions, including sitting, standing, kneeling, and walking.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Meet vision standards, with or without corrective lenses.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily field office and site environments.
  • Minimal office environment exposure.
  • Work involves exposure to varying noise and dust levels.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation.

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience as a lead superintendent in tilt wall warehouse or distribution construction, preferably with a concrete self-performing general contractor.
  • Effective communication skills with the public and team members.
  • Strong understanding of plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of layout and construction equipment.
  • Proficient or willing to learn software such as Blue Beam, PlanGrid, Excel, Procore, and Project.
  • Understanding of construction terminology, scheduling, and planning principles.
  • Completion of safety training as per company and project requirements.
  • Ability to follow directions accurately.
  • Provide references from previous employment.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Coordinate effectively with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Self-motivated and a strong team player.
