Role Summary:

The K-12 Assistive Technology Library Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the operations of the Assistive Technology Lending Library, a vital resource for students with disabilities within Indiana's K-12 educational system. This program facilitates access to a diverse range of assistive devices through demonstrations and short-term loans, empowering students and educators to make informed choices regarding their technological needs. Key responsibilities include managing equipment inventory, maintaining an online library database, conducting demonstrations, and providing support to students and staff regarding their assistive technology needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily operations of the demonstration and loan program, ensuring effective communication with the program manager regarding ongoing activities.
  • Organize and maintain the inventory of equipment in the lending library across various school locations.
  • Conduct an annual physical inventory of all equipment, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Update and manage the online equipment library database, producing reports on lending library activities.
  • Provide monthly reports to the program manager detailing lending library statistics, including loan and demonstration data.
  • Independently conduct demonstrations of adaptive technology devices throughout the district's schools.
  • Facilitate training sessions on adaptive tools, devices, and applications for both small and large groups of students and staff as necessary.
  • Assist in marketing and outreach initiatives by participating in school events, creating educational materials, and other related tasks.
  • Ensure the Assistive Technology Lending Library is well-maintained and that all equipment is prepared for demonstrations and tours.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or completion of relevant certification programs and/or prior experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • ATP certification or similar credentials preferred but not mandatory.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

Experience Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Assistive Technology or a related field.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of Assistive Technology hardware and software.
  • Proficient computer skills for effective communication and data management.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and technological solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with consumers, staff, and community members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Core Competencies:

  • In-depth understanding of technology, including Windows and MS Applications, as well as Apple products.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of assistive technology services, equipment, and best practices.

Equipment Utilized:

  • Standard office equipment, communication tools, computer hardware/software, assistive technology hardware/software, and databases.

Physical Demands:

  • Physical activities required include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Medium work: ability to lift 26-50 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently.

Work Schedule:

  • Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with working hours generally from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, totaling a minimum of 40 hours per week.
