Job Title: Dining Room Captain

Job Summary:

The Dining Room Captain is a key member of our team, responsible for ensuring exceptional service and a memorable dining experience for our members and guests. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise dining room events, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional service.
  • Work closely with the Food and Beverage Management team to coordinate personnel requirements for private functions.
  • Supervise and direct dining room staff during all phases of service, ensuring high standards of presentation and service quality.
  • Effectively communicate expectations and service goals to staff, ensuring a consistent and exceptional dining experience.
  • Assist in the development and execution of short and long-term department goals, aligning with the Club's overall vision and objectives.
  • Coordinate food service between the kitchen and dining room service staff, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of meals.
  • Inspect all linens daily to ensure proper appearance and cleanliness.
  • Assist with inventory of dining room service ware, equipment, and supplies to meet required needs.
  • Enforce established Club rules, regulations, and policies, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all members and guests.
  • Prepare and review table diagrams, guest tables, and set-up needs for service, ensuring a seamless and efficient dining experience.
  • Participate in or conduct pre-function meetings with servers to ensure smooth and efficient service, assigning server stations and coordinating the timing of courses.
  • Ensure all dining room staff are well-groomed and in proper uniform, maintaining a professional and polished appearance.
  • Assist with training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating dining room service staff, ensuring a high level of service quality and consistency.
  • Assure the neatness, cleanliness, and safety of all dining room areas, maintaining a high standard of presentation and service quality.
  • Interact with the host or hostess to ensure all needs are being met, providing exceptional service and a memorable dining experience.
  • May serve VIP guests, providing exceptional service and a personalized experience.
  • Assure that state and local laws and the Club's policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed, maintaining a safe and responsible environment.
  • Analyze situations requiring solutions and adopt an effective plan of action, ensuring a seamless and efficient dining experience.
  • Notify management of member and guest complaints, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
  • Oversee the breakdown of the dining room, including clean-up activities and securing the facilities, maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
  • Complete an after-service report to improve quality and efficiency of dining room functions, ensuring a high level of service quality and consistency.
  • Attend Food and Beverage Department meetings and confer with management to identify, plan, and develop methods and procedures to obtain greater efficiency, aligning with the Club's overall vision and objectives.
  • Complete other appropriate assignments made by Food and Beverage Management, ensuring a high level of service quality and consistency.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous fine dining and banquet experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcohol.
  • Minimum two years of dining room server experience.
  • Proven track record in successfully assisting all types of dining functions and other special events.
  • Some liquor and public entertainment knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the Club industry or similar field.
