Position Overview

The Banquet Captain plays a vital role in overseeing banquet operations, ensuring that events run smoothly and meet the high standards of our club. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage service personnel effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise banquet events according to client specifications outlined in the Banquet Event Order.
  • Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Manager, Banquet Manager, Executive Chef, and other team members to ensure adequate staffing for events.
  • Direct banquet staff throughout all phases of event execution, ensuring high-quality service.
  • Communicate service expectations and goals clearly to all team members.
  • Assist in setting and achieving departmental objectives.
  • Manage food service logistics between the kitchen and banquet staff.
  • Inspect linens and banquet equipment for quality and readiness.
  • Oversee inventory management of banquet supplies and equipment.
  • Enforce club policies and procedures to maintain a professional environment.
  • Prepare detailed setups for special functions, including table diagrams and guest arrangements.
  • Conduct pre-event meetings with staff to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Ensure that all banquet personnel are well-presented and adhere to uniform standards.
  • Support the training and evaluation of banquet service staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in all banquet areas.
  • Engage with event hosts to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local regulations regarding alcohol service.
  • Address member and guest feedback promptly and effectively.
  • Supervise the breakdown and cleanup of events, securing all facilities afterward.
  • Complete post-event reports to enhance future service quality.
  • Participate in departmental meetings to discuss operational improvements.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Banquet Manager.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in fine dining and banquet service.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcohol.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a banquet service role.
  • Demonstrated success in supporting various banquet functions and special events.
  • Knowledge of liquor service and public entertainment regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the club industry or a similar hospitality environment.

Work Environment

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to perform tasks that involve pushing, pulling, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Comfortable with repetitive motions throughout the shift.
