Position Overview

The Institute for Applied Behavior Analysis (IABA) is seeking compassionate individuals for the role of Behavior Support Companion.

Comprehensive PAID training provided.

As a Behavior Support Companion, you will form meaningful connections with the individuals and families you support. Your role is essential in providing non-medical direct services to children with developmental disabilities and other special needs.

In this position, you will enable primary caregivers to take necessary breaks from their caregiving duties, while also fostering a supportive and less stressful home environment for clients and their families. Your work will take place in various community settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with the families you assist.
  • Engage clients through enjoyable activities tailored to their interests.
  • Provide personal care and support for daily living needs.
  • Lead socialization activities to enhance client interaction.
  • Maintain accurate records for each service recipient.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Understanding of developmental disabilities.
  • Availability for evening and weekend shifts based on client needs.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Operational vehicle required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Successful completion of a fingerprint background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Capability to assist clients with physical mobility needs.
  • Willingness to actively participate in recreational activities.

Training:

Behavior Support Companions will undergo approximately 40 hours of required training within the first three months of employment, including competency-based and on-the-job training.

Work Schedule:

Shifts available Monday through Friday after 1 PM, and weekends from 9 AM to 10 PM.
