Job Overview

The Institute for Applied Behavior Analysis (IABA) is seeking Behavior Support Companions.

Are you a caring individual who enjoys working with people and is looking for a part-time role in human services that offers flexible scheduling?

Extensive PAID training provided

As a Behavior Support Companion, you will form meaningful connections with the individuals and families you assist.

Our companions deliver specialized non-medical direct services and compassionate support to children with developmental challenges and other unique needs.

In this role, you will enable primary caregivers to take essential breaks from their daily responsibilities while helping clients and their families foster a more relaxed home atmosphere. Your work will take place in various community settings, supporting families.

This is a part-time opportunity (up to 30 hours weekly) with flexible scheduling, which may evolve into a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary support for families, addressing the daily challenges of providing respite services.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with the families you support.
  • Engage clients through enjoyable activities.
  • Assist with personal care and daily living needs.
  • Lead socialization activities and maintain accurate records for service recipients.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Familiarity with developmental disabilities.
  • Availability for evening and weekend shifts based on client needs.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance documentation, and a clean DMV record.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Successful completion of a fingerprint background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Capability to assist clients requiring physical support.
  • Willingness to engage in various recreational activities.

Training:

Behavior Support Companions will undergo approximately 40 hours of mandatory training within the first three months of employment, including competency-based and on-the-job training.

Work Schedule:

Availability needed Monday through Friday after 1 PM, and weekends from 9 AM to 10 PM.
