Position Overview:

As an HVAC Service Technician Trainee at Carrier, you will play a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction by providing reliable and efficient service. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Commercial HVAC systems while working on diverse installation, repair, and maintenance projects.

Collaborate with a skilled team and showcase your ability to work both independently and as part of a group. This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about their craft and eager to enhance their technical skills.


Key Responsibilities:
(Daily tasks and duties)
  • Inspect HVAC units to verify optimal performance.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on heating and cooling systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Install, replace, or repair malfunctioning equipment; calibrate thermostatic controls.
  • Install new HVAC systems and replace worn components.
  • Monitor pressure levels of liquids and vapors to ensure efficient operation.
  • Service refrigeration equipment, including refrigerators and heat pumps.
  • Maintain chilled and hot water supply systems.
  • Adjust and maintain electrical control systems; clean coils and check motor functions.
  • Assemble and install ductwork.
  • Assist in planning and designing new HVAC installations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records as per regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with job duties.
  • Collaborate with management to uphold a safe working environment.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 2 years of HVAC experience.
  • Ability to join the Union or currently enrolled.
  • Physical capability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of HVAC maintenance and repair principles.
  • Familiarity with safety practices relevant to the trade.
  • Understanding of HVAC controls and safety devices.
  • Experience with electrical circuits and systems related to HVAC.
  • Basic skills in sheet metal work, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Awareness of building automation controls.
