In this role, under the daily guidance of the Charge/Resource RN, you will be responsible for coordinating all patient care activities. This includes managing the transcription of physician orders and ensuring the completion of all related tasks while effectively communicating information across various levels.


Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Assists colleagues in obtaining and disseminating relevant information, promptly notifying the appropriate RN or department of urgent orders.
  • Acts as a resource for staff regarding protocol requirements and the sequencing of laboratory tests and imaging procedures.
  • Accurately transcribes physician orders into the computer system, on Kardex, or manually on requisition forms.
  • Schedules patients for specialized tests and procedures, coordinating with relevant departments and relaying necessary information.
  • Maintains patient medical records by accurately documenting vital signs, recording intake and output as requested, organizing discharge records, and managing charting requirements.
  • Coordinates all documentation required for interdepartmental transfers and discharges to other facilities, ensuring pre-operative charts are complete and notifying the RN of any missing information.
  • Orders necessary supplies from central services or stockroom as required.
  • Maintains and communicates an accurate census count for the unit.
  • Assists in data collection, quality assurance, and statistical tracking of unit activities, maintaining appropriate logbooks in designated areas.
  • Meets performance expectations in customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development as outlined in performance evaluations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the department/unit.
  • Receives and processes reports.
  • Identifies significant changes in patient rhythms.
  • Monitors patients continuously.
  • Maintains a comprehensive logbook.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE
Prior related work experience is advantageous. A foundational understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medications is essential.

N/A.

SPECIAL SKILLS
Proficient computer skills and excellent communication abilities are required.
