Administrative Coordinator for Oral Surgery

Job Summary:
The Oral Surgery Administrative Coordinator plays a vital role in creating a unique and exceptional patient experience. This role requires a passionate patient advocate who drives a patient-centric culture while facilitating practice-based administrative and patient support services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver administrative services to patients, including answering phones, check-in, chart preparation and filing, obtaining referrals and x-rays, patient consent, check-out, pre-registration and real-time eligibility verification, registration, appointment/testing scheduling (as applicable) at check-out, point of service payment collection, and addressing patient inquiries (e.g., form and medical record requests).
- Facilitate practice opening and closing procedures, maintenance of practice cleanliness, processing of incoming mail and deliveries, cash management and reconciliation, and prompt scanning and indexing incoming faxes.
- Perform queries to providers regarding documentation, diagnosis coding, and procedural coding.
- Enter all charges, create and release clean claims daily.
- Create treatment plans based on insurance coverage and provide accurate estimates to patients of out-of-pocket costs for procedures.
- Create patient correspondence for referring doctors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
This role requires a high school graduate or equivalent. Preference is given to graduates of an administrative training program. One year of practice-based experience or in a similar healthcare setting is preferred. Familiarity with dental processes, coding, and terminology is also desirable. Customer service experience is a plus.
Work Environment:
The Oral Surgery Administrative Coordinator will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The role requires sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. Continual use of fingers for patient care, writing, and computer entry is also required. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds, push carts with supplies up to 30 pounds, and push wheelchairs with patients weighing up to 325 pounds is occasionally required. Regularly, the ability to stoop, bend, and reach above shoulder level is necessary. Good hearing and vision are also required.
