Position Overview
As a Senior Scientist specializing in formulation development, you will play a pivotal role in driving technical advancements while designing and executing laboratory experiments focused on small molecule formulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide expert guidance in the design and execution of laboratory experiments aimed at developing small molecule formulations across multiple phases.
2. Support strategic initiatives and ensure project milestones are met within designated timelines, aligning with both short-term and long-term objectives.
3. Collaborate effectively within a diverse team environment, promoting inclusivity and a sense of belonging.
4. Continuously enhance scientific and technical expertise, advocate for innovative project ideas, and serve as a mentor within the scientific community.
Qualifications
A comprehensive understanding of chemical and material sciences, engineering principles, and the development of pharmaceutical dosage forms, particularly how physicochemical properties influence formulation development and product quality.
Proficient in lab-scale production techniques, including tableting, granulation, blending, milling, spray drying, coating, and drying. Proven ability to tackle complex technical challenges and demonstrate leadership in a scientific context.
Experience in developing small molecule formulations for clinical applications is essential.
Exceptional communication, organizational, and planning abilities, coupled with a high degree of technical proficiency and creativity. Strong knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and relevant regulatory guidelines. Proven capability to apply scientific methodologies to design, conduct, and analyze experiments.
Team Collaboration
Ability to engage and collaborate within a diverse, interdisciplinary team environment, focusing on innovative problem-solving while fostering diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
Technical Skills
Familiarity with analytical techniques such as PXRD, TGA, DSC, HPLC, GC, GC/MS, NMR, FTIR, and UV spectroscopy. Proficient in standard software applications (MS Office Suite, ChemDraw, SciFinder, Statistical Design, Electronic Lab Notebooks).
Educational Background
A PhD in chemical engineering, pharmaceutical science, materials science, or a related physical science with a minimum of 3 years of experience, or an MS with at least 10 years, or a BS with 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical development.
Preferred Experience
Familiarity with Process Analytical Technology (PAT), Chemometrics, Continuous Manufacturing, and Quality by Design (QbD) methodologies is advantageous.
