The Project Accountant plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing financial aspects for Project Managers and Principals across all SGH offices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the accounting and finance resource for technical teams on designated projects.
  • Examine contracts and project documentation for financial and reporting stipulations.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and principals to ensure precise accounting for job costs and earnings.
  • Prepare invoices and necessary documentation in accordance with contract terms and input from project managers and principals.
  • Oversee the collection of accounts receivable and the reconciliation of cash receipts.
  • Generate ad hoc reports and provide timely and detailed financial insights to project managers, principals, and company leadership.
  • Track and assess progress against budgetary goals and recommend strategies to enhance project outcomes.
  • Validate subcontractor and vendor invoices to confirm compliance with contract terms.
  • Advise on accounting best practices and serve as an authority on GAAP and the firm's internal accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain comprehensive accounting files and records.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Management is preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in general accounting, accounts payable, or accounts receivable is preferred.
  • Experience or understanding of the AEC industry is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with government contracting and procurement is a plus.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision is beneficial.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with a strong commitment to responsiveness, follow-through, and customer service.
