Payroll Manager

Job Summary:
The Payroll Manager oversees and supervises the organization's payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions for union and non-union employees on a weekly basis.
Responsibilities:
Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions. Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors. Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures. Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff in the department. Develop and lead payroll staff. Oversee the daily workflow of the department. Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Requirements:
BS, BA, or related years of experience. At least 5 years of Payroll/Accounting experience. Construction payroll experience, a plus. Knowledge of union payroll, a plus. Must be detail oriented. Must be able to work under tight deadlines. Should be able to deal with difficult, sensitive, and confidential issues. Must have good customer service skills and overall understanding of accounting, exposure to management reporting systems. Excellent organization skills, time management, and prioritization abilities. Must be a team player with excellent communication skills. Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations. Strong PC skills. High degree of professionalism. Ability for decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
