Job Summary

This position is for the Division Director, Division of Graduate Education (DGE) in the Directorate for STEM Education (EDU). The Division Director will serve as a member of the leadership team of the Directorate for STEM Education and will be responsible for developing programmatic focus and efficiently connecting it with the operational functions of the agency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serves as Division Director of the Division of Graduate Education (DGE) and as a member of the leadership team of the Directorate for STEM Education (EDU).
  • Develops programmatic focus and efficiently connects it with the operational functions of the agency.
  • Leads the activities of DGE, assesses the needs and trends, develops breakthrough opportunities, implements overall strategic planning, and sets policy.
  • Supervises and provides leadership and guidance to senior executive-level DGE staff, program officers, and administrative and support personnel.
  • Oversees the management of the DGE funding portfolio, determines funding requirements, prepares and justifies budget estimates, balances program needs, allocates resources, oversees the evaluation of proposals and recommendations for awards and declinations, and represents NSF to relevant external groups.
  • Fosters and sustains public and private partnerships with other NSF divisions, directorates, Federal agencies, scientific and educational organizations, business, industry, and the academic community to advance the mission and vision of EDU.
Requirements
  • One year probationary period required for all new Career SES appointments.
  • Requires an Executive Branch Personnel Public Financial Disclosure OGE-278.
  • US Citizenship or appropriate affidavit, depending on position.
Qualifications
  • EXECUTIVE CORE QUALIFICATIONS (ECQs): Unless you are currently under a career SES appointment, are eligible for reinstatement into SES, or have successfully completed a SES Candidate Development Program approved by OPM, you must submit written statements (narrative format) describing accomplishments that would satisfy the ECQs.
  • MANDATORY TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (MTQs): All applicants must submit written statements (narrative format) of accomplishments that would satisfy the MTQs for this vacancy.
