Division Director, Division of Undergraduate Education

The National Science Foundation is seeking a highly qualified Division Director to lead the Division of Undergraduate Education. As a key member of the Directorate for STEM Education leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing the programmatic focus of the Directorate and efficiently connecting it with the operational functions of the agency.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic plans to strengthen STEM undergraduate education at two- and four-year colleges and universities.
- Lead the activities of the Division, assessing the needs and trends in the field, developing breakthrough opportunities, and implementing overall strategic planning.
- Supervise and provide leadership and guidance to senior executive-level staff, program officers, administrative and support personnel.
- Oversee the management of the Division's funding portfolio, determining funding requirements, preparing and justifying budget estimates, and balancing program needs.
- Represent the National Science Foundation to relevant external groups, fostering partnerships with other NSF divisions, directorates, Federal agencies, scientific and educational organizations, business, industry, and the academic community.
- Ph.D. or equivalent professional experience in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) and/or STEM education.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in developing and implementing strategic plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build coalitions and partnerships.
- Experience in managing budgets and resources, with a strong understanding of financial management principles.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience in leading or managing programs or projects focused on undergraduate STEM education.
- Strong knowledge of trends, issues, current research, and evidence-based practices in undergraduate STEM education.
- Ability to build on and grow the expertise and knowledge of researchers and educators in multiple disciplines.
