About the Position

The National Science Foundation is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Division Director of the Division of Undergraduate Education. This is a key leadership position that plays a critical role in shaping the future of undergraduate education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Division of Undergraduate Education in developing and implementing strategic plans to strengthen undergraduate education in STEM fields.
  • Oversee the management of the division's funding portfolio, including the development of budget estimates and the allocation of resources.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to senior executive-level staff, program officers, and administrative personnel.
  • Foster partnerships with other NSF divisions, directorates, Federal agencies, scientific and educational organizations, business, industry, and the academic community to advance the mission of the Division of Undergraduate Education.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or equivalent professional experience in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) and/or STEM education.
  • Established record of significant achievement in research, administration, and increasing leadership responsibility in academe, industry, or government.
  • Experience and competence in technical, financial, and administrative management.
  • Ability to work well with people, communicate effectively, and commit to developing the diversity of talents and skills of the team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) in Leading Change, Leading People, Results-Driven Leadership, Business Acumen, and Building Coalitions.
  • Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs) in Recognized professional standing in the STEM and/or STEM education communities, demonstrated knowledge of trends, issues, current research, and evidence-based practices in undergraduate STEM education, and skill in building on and growing the expertise and knowledge of researchers and educators in multiple disciplines.
