The National Science Foundation is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Deputy Division Director for the Earth Sciences Division. This is a senior executive role that requires a strong background in earth sciences research, administration, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Division Director in managing the Earth Sciences Division, including overseeing the activities of program directors and staff.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the goals of the Earth Sciences Division.
- Provide leadership and guidance to program directors and staff on matters related to earth sciences research and education.
- Represent the National Science Foundation to external organizations and stakeholders on matters related to earth sciences research and education.
- Collaborate with other divisions and directorates within the National Science Foundation to advance the goals of the organization.
- Ph.D. in earth sciences or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 10 years of experience in earth sciences research, administration, and leadership.
- Strong background in earth sciences research, including experience in proposal review, grant management, and research administration.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Experience in managing large research programs, including experience in budgeting, personnel management, and research administration.
- Strong background in earth sciences education, including experience in curriculum development, teaching, and mentoring.
- Experience in collaborating with external organizations, including experience in partnerships, collaborations, and outreach.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
