Position Overview

The Geospatial Solutions Expert plays a crucial role in assisting the production team and office with technical expertise, problem-solving, and involvement in all phases of project execution. This professional collaborates with Technical Experts and Management to drive product innovation, enhance workflow efficiency, and contribute to the growth of the business unit. The Geospatial Solutions Expert fosters technical advancement throughout the organization and provides mentorship in technical leadership. They facilitate scope discussions with clients and support effective client communication. With a comprehensive understanding of ongoing projects, this individual is equipped to assume various support roles. This position requires both independent work and teamwork to ensure data production in environments such as ArcMap, PLS-CADD, and Microstation, while delivering final data products tailored to client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits leadership qualities among production personnel.
  • Takes accountability for team tasks, ensuring execution and quality assurance.
  • May act as Project Technical Lead, overseeing planning, strategy, and workflow development for new initiatives.
  • Participates in the recruitment of new team members.
  • Reports on project progress, accomplishments, challenges, and solutions during regular meetings.
  • Assists management in evaluating projects, estimating time commitments, and managing workflows.
  • Provides insights and clarity regarding project contracts and scopes of work.
  • Helps monitor Technical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Collaborates on process improvements and shares knowledge across production teams, informing subject matter experts.
  • Implements industry and client standards into production workflows.
  • Communicates proactively across the organization, presenting expertise in team meetings and project discussions.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for problem resolution and troubleshooting.
  • Possesses excellent technical writing skills, capable of simplifying complex information.
  • Exhibits strong technical proficiency with ESRI, PLS-CADD, and vector-based software.
  • Generates data reports and final deliverables.
  • Ability to automate workflows and streamline tasks.
  • Takes initiative to enhance processes and improve efficiencies.
  • Supports the technical implementation of projects within a production team.
  • Influences technical growth across the organization and mentors others in technical leadership.
  • Facilitates client education and engagement as necessary.
  • Stays informed about industry and office standards, proactively identifying relevant workshops, meetings, and conferences.
  • Collaborates with Technical Experts and Management on product innovation, workflow scalability, and creative problem-solving.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in a professional GIS environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of ESRI or vector-based software and TerraSolid products.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Drive.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher.
  • Familiarity with Python, CADD, and Visual Basic.
  • Proficiency in inDesign.
