Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geographic Information Systems Analyst to join our team at PacifiCorp. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing critical business support functions, including geospatial science and analysis, spatial data acquisition, geospatial modeling, database development, data management, and maintaining data integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform geospatial science and analysis, spatial data acquisition, geospatial modeling, database development, data management, and maintain data integrity.
  • Design, develop, and implement moderately complex GIS processes, including sourcing data, data extraction, geospatial analysis, manipulation, transformation, integration, mapping, and GIS application solutions.
  • Oversee the preparation of required exhibits for submission to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with internal clients to solve business problems using GIS technology and knowledge.
  • Conduct analyses, research, and gather data to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Interpret data and present results of analyses to clients in the form of reports or map products.
  • Provide guidance and direction relative to work assignments to GIS staff.
  • Produce high-end cartographic products for various initiatives, reporting, and public meetings.
  • Assist in developing standards and automated processes through project work.
  • Function as a subject matter expert and provide technical oversight and guidance to less experienced GIS agents.
  • Direct complex research requests and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain operational and procedural documentation.
  • May work as a technical or supervisory lead.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information System (GIS), Natural Resources, Geography, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of utility GIS-related experience.
  • A minimum of five years of experience using ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical practices and techniques to complex GIS assignments.
  • Experience working with land records, survey data, and legal descriptions.
  • Experience using GIS in supporting hydro facility land management, facility relicensing, decommissioning, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience using GIS as it relates to site prospecting and evaluating solar and wind generation potential.
  • Experience using GIS to support wildfire mitigation and response efforts.
  • Experience using GIS to assess impacts due to local, state, and federal permitting and regulatory changes.
  • Excellent people skills, including negotiation, understanding, and influencing others in the achievement of goals.
  • Ability to conceptualize impact and understand outcome/results of business decisions.
  • Assessment skills, including problem diagnosis and identification of proper methods and techniques to resolve and prevent future problems.
  • Experience producing high-end cartographic products for various initiatives, studies, reporting, and public meetings.
  • Communication and people skills, including the ability to consult and resolve internal and external customer issues.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex geospatial concepts or results to those less familiar.
  • Knowledge of current technologies, tools, systems, and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree.
  • Experience using Safe Software FME.
  • Experience using Python.
  • Experience using ArcGIS Spatial Analyst and 3D analyst.
  • Experience with RDBMS.
