Key Responsibilities /
Essential Duties:


Conducts prompt and precise follow-up on claims submitted to payers and patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.


Accountable for the preparation and submission of timely and accurate rebilled claims, as well as initial billed secondary and tertiary claims to payers, adhering to prescribed guidelines.

Inputs specific demographic information into the billing and collections software in compliance with established protocols.

Creates claims for both electronic and hard-copy submission.

Issues Missing Information Requests (MIR) in line with established policies and procedures.


Recognizes discrepancies between recorded revenue and anticipated reimbursement to ensure accurate claims reimbursement as defined by contracts, along with state and federal regulations.

Identifies and reports any breaches of NSM Credit Policy.


Engages in the collection and documentation of payer-specific claims processing rules, practices, and guidelines to help maintain the accuracy and currency of payer requirements for NSM staff.

Adheres to and supports departmental and organizational policies and procedures.

Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee is frequently required to sit; utilize hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment. The employee is often required to reach with hands and arms.

Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

High School Diploma or equivalent certification.

Experience with billing and collections software is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical billing and insurance claim submission, along with strong communication skills, is essential.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat is a plus.

Excellent data entry skills, including speed and accuracy.

Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products (i.e., Outlook, Word, and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
