Role Summary:

The Superintendent plays a pivotal role in managing field operations across various projects, teams, and scopes of work concurrently to ensure timely and profitable project delivery. This position involves daily collaboration with the General Foreman and Foreman to address challenges, make informed decisions, and facilitate effective communication, ensuring that all work is conducted safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager and Senior Project Manager to uphold a proactive safety culture and maintain a secure work environment:
    • Ensure all safety training and documentation are completed before project commencement.
    • Conduct Weekly Toolbox Safety Meetings and regular safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
    • Address unsafe conditions and incidents promptly, implementing corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
    • Assist in updating and enforcing safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement Safety and Work Plans for significant tasks such as Building Outages and Crane operations.
  • Support the creation of General Conditions/Requirements prior to contract execution, particularly for retrofit projects.
  • Engage in pre-design site surveys and design reviews, providing input on constructability and safety considerations.
  • Participate in Pre-Mobilization Meetings to ensure high-quality designs and plans are established.
  • Conduct pre-mobilization site walks to identify and mitigate potential field conditions that could affect project execution.
  • Oversee project start-up and pre-planning with the Project Foreman.
  • Work with the Procurement Manager to forecast material needs and maintain visibility on equipment availability.
  • Ensure accurate timecard entries and reporting by field employees, collaborating with the Payroll Department to resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with the Labor Compliance department to meet labor requirements on all projects.
  • Provide leadership and training to field teams, promoting high-quality workmanship and innovative methods.
  • Facilitate the timely creation of the Field Labor Tracker spreadsheet by the General Foreman and Foreman.
  • Coordinate with clients, General Contractors, and subcontractors to ensure timely completion of critical path activities.
  • Identify and address change conditions impacting cost and schedule promptly.
  • Keep the Project Manager and Engineering team informed of any field changes.
  • Lead weekly reviews of project hours and production rates, identifying potential issues and implementing solutions.
  • Monitor material and equipment usage against budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure the Foreman has all necessary documentation and that as-built drawings are updated.
  • Develop and maintain an execution plan throughout the project duration to ensure adherence to schedules.
  • Conduct routine jobsite meetings to review progress and address challenges.
  • Confirm completion of pre-commissioning reports and coordinate necessary inspections.
  • Maintain an understanding of manpower needs for effective planning.
  • Participate in project post-mortem meetings to provide feedback for future improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial/industrial solar construction.
  • Experience in construction management, both self-performing and subcontracting.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant electrical and plumbing codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
  • Experience with city/county permitting processes.
  • OSHA-30 certification and JW Electrical License preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
