POSITION SUMMARY: The Processing Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all personnel involved in the egg processing shift, including cleanup staff. This role requires collaboration between shifts to ensure optimal egg throughput and timely fulfillment of sales orders. The supervisor must develop the expertise necessary to manage the entire egg production process on a daily basis, encompassing both the machinery and the workforce involved.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor and adjust egg washer soap and sanitizer levels as necessary, ensuring proper wash and rinse temperature differentials.
  • Ensure the egg washer is drained, cleaned, and refilled at scheduled intervals.
  • Maintain possession of all required tools as outlined in the provided tool list.
  • Facilitate regular communication with the quality control manager regarding egg quality standards.
  • Assist quality control inspectors in monitoring egg weights and expiration dates, addressing any discrepancies immediately.
  • Oversee the accurate dating of cartons and boxes, ensuring all information is legible and correct.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the processing area during operations.
  • Keep an accurate inventory of rejected products and ensure timely processing.
  • Label and store denatured barrels appropriately in the cooler.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels for the processing team throughout the week.
  • Prepare the candling area and personnel for operations.
  • Conduct dry runs of packing equipment to verify proper functionality.
  • Ensure adherence to the run sheet and operational adjustments as needed.
  • Perform daily sanitation inspections of the processing area.
  • Familiarize processing employees with company policies, employee relations, and grievance procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with maintenance personnel and assist with repairs as needed.
  • Complete and submit all necessary paperwork related to processing operations.
  • Coordinate with house managers to monitor egg flow from production areas.
  • Promptly inform management of any urgent situations requiring attention.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping is conducted after each shift.
  • Delegate tasks to the assistant processing manager and other team members as necessary.
  • Evaluate and address employee performance issues, ensuring all incidents are investigated appropriately.
  • Familiarize with the company's Biosecurity Program and Good Manufacturing Practices Handbook.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in the egg industry is advantageous.
  • Previous management experience is preferred, or the ability to perform management functions as assessed by current management.
  • College or vocational training is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Understanding of egg production operations and the processing role in product delivery.
  • Ability to maintain focus on repetitive tasks and work long hours when necessary.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and assist management as needed.
  • Strong teamwork skills, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and handle stressful situations effectively.
  • Respectful and courteous interaction with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Physical ability to lift over 40 lbs. consistently throughout the day.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods in a demanding environment.
  • Experience with mechanical functions of processing equipment, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in monitoring product packaging for accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
