Position Summary:

The Maintenance Electrician role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including the mentorship and training of fellow mechanics. This is a skilled position requiring the ability to execute a range of maintenance, repair, and construction tasks with minimal supervision. Employees in this role are expected to provide guidance and training to new team members to ensure the successful completion of their duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold safety standards at all times.
  • Conduct visual inspections of machinery and equipment, utilizing feedback from operators to identify issues.
  • Assemble and install machinery and equipment following technical drawings.
  • Replace malfunctioning motors and pumps, ensuring proper alignment and adjustments.
  • Operate shop equipment such as grinders, band saws, and drill presses.
  • Perform maintenance tasks across the plant while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Carry out plant inspections and execute preventative maintenance measures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work environment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.

Electrical Duties:

  • Oversee the maintenance of electrical components at various company facilities.
  • Follow supervisor directives regarding daily tasks and project expectations.
  • Assist with general labor tasks as needed.

Supervisory Role:

This position operates with limited supervision and requires the ability to manage materials as necessary, adhering to established purchasing processes. The Maintenance Electrician can deem equipment unsafe and take it out of service, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Accountability to the Project Manager is essential to ensure all team members follow safety protocols and operational guidelines.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in the operation of maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information effectively.
  • Inspect work for defects and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Knowledgeable in safety and environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrated initiative and sound judgment in repair tasks.
  • Collaborative team player, valuing input from supervisors and colleagues.
  • Act as a communication bridge between Maintenance and Operations teams.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of preventative maintenance practices.
  • Capability to diagnose and repair command batch panel components.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Experience in engine and motor maintenance.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery, including loaders and backhoes.
  • Crane operator certification is a plus.

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience in heavy equipment.

Language and Mathematical Skills:

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Candidates should be comfortable with basic mathematical operations.

Work Requirements:

  • Successful completion of pre-employment screenings.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is mandatory.
  • Commitment to safety is essential.
  • Regular attendance is required.

Work Environment:

This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, often in proximity to moving machinery. Compliance with safety regulations is critical.

Special Requirements:

Ability to utilize personal protective equipment as necessary.

Travel Requirements:

Local travel may be required for equipment maintenance or parts procurement.
