Position Summary:

The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for performing a variety of mechanical maintenance tasks while also taking on additional roles such as training and guiding fellow mechanics. This position is classified as a journey-level role, requiring minimal supervision to complete assigned duties. The incumbent will be expected to conduct various maintenance, repair, and construction activities with a focus on efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize safety in all operations.
  • Conduct visual inspections of machinery and equipment, utilizing operator feedback to identify malfunctions.
  • Assemble and install machinery and equipment according to technical drawings.
  • Replace malfunctioning motors and pumps, ensuring proper alignment and adjustments.
  • Operate various shop equipment including grinders, saws, and drill presses.
  • Perform maintenance tasks throughout the facility while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular plant inspections and execute preventative maintenance measures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the work environment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.

Electrical Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance of all electrical components at various company locations.
  • Follow supervisor directives for daily tasks and project expectations.
  • Assist with general labor tasks as needed.

Supervisory Role:

This position operates with minimal oversight and is expected to make independent decisions regarding maintenance activities. The Maintenance Electrician will ensure compliance with safety regulations and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of preventative maintenance for heavy machinery.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems and components.
  • Experience in engine and motor repair.
  • Knowledge of welding and light fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to operate heavy construction equipment.
  • Crane operator certification is preferred.

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience in heavy equipment.

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Mathematical proficiency for measurements and calculations.

Work Environment:

This role involves working in outdoor conditions and near moving mechanical parts. Compliance with safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
