Position Summary:

The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for performing essential maintenance tasks while also taking on additional duties such as training and guiding fellow mechanics. This role represents a skilled level of mechanical maintenance, where the incumbent is expected to carry out a variety of maintenance, repair, and construction activities with minimal supervision. The individual will also provide on-the-job training and orientation to new operators and mechanics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct visual inspections of machinery and equipment, utilizing feedback from operators to identify malfunction causes.
  • Install and assemble machinery and equipment according to technical drawings.
  • Replace malfunctioning motors and pumps, ensuring proper alignment and adjustments.
  • Operate shop equipment such as grinders, band saws, and drill presses.
  • Perform maintenance across all plant areas while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Conduct plant inspections and execute preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues.

Electrical Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all electrical components at company facilities, including plants and mechanic shops.
  • Follow supervisor directives regarding daily tasks and project expectations.
  • Assist with general labor duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role operates with minimal supervision and is expected to make independent decisions regarding material acquisition and equipment safety. The Maintenance Electrician is accountable for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining communication between maintenance and operations teams.

Job Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in the operation of various tools and equipment.
  • Adept at gathering and analyzing information effectively.
  • Ability to examine workpieces for defects and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Knowledgeable in safety and environmental standards.
  • Capable of exercising sound judgment and initiative in repair situations.
  • Collaborative team player who values input from supervisors and colleagues.
  • Acts as a liaison between maintenance and operations for effective communication.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of preventative maintenance for various plant equipment.
  • Experience in diagnosing and repairing electrical components.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems and equipment.
  • Proficient in engine and motor repair.
  • Knowledge of welding and light fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to operate heavy construction machinery.
  • Crane operator certification is preferred.

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience in heavy equipment.

Work Requirements:

  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background checks.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Commitment to safety practices.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is essential.

Work Environment:

This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and near moving mechanical parts. Compliance with safety regulations and the use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
