Position Summary:
The DAF SC2 Space Cyber Capabilities Subject Matter Expert (SME) is pivotal in managing technology utilization across SC2 focus areas. This role involves assessing potential risks, formulating protocols to mitigate or manage those risks, and providing strategic recommendations that empower Space Force (SF) and other space enterprise decision-makers to navigate and mitigate cybersecurity threats within the space domain.

  • For onsite positions, collaboration with colleagues and clients will occur in person as necessary for the specific role.
  • For remote roles, employees will primarily work remotely but may occasionally engage at an ISA or client site as required.

Key Responsibilities:
The DAF SC2 Space Cyber Capabilities SME is responsible for identifying Department of Defense (DoD), federal, and industry standards, along with regulatory guidelines for information security, to minimize the risk of compromising sensitive SF and other space enterprise systems, operations, and missions. This role also involves assisting in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of organizational security policies and procedures, collaborating with engineering and operations teams to ensure compliance with strategic cyberspace operations and cybersecurity requirements.

Specific Duties Include:
* Understanding and applying relevant DoD, federal, and industry regulations, guidelines, and best practices to manage risk and ensure compliance.
* Developing, maintaining, or auditing security documentation, including policies, standards, and procedures.
* Monitoring the effectiveness of internal SC2 controls within the space domain.
* Communicating risk management roles to partners and securing buy-in to enhance the DAF's cybersecurity posture for the space domain.
* Conducting analyses and integrating cyberspace operations and concerns into strategic and operational planning.

Additional Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may evolve based on project requirements, with changes communicated by the supervisor.

Supervisory Role:
No supervisory responsibilities are associated with this position.

Clearance Requirements:
TS/SCI eligibility with CI polygraph; current possession of TS/SCI is preferred.

Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 3 years supporting senior headquarters positions is required, with over 5 years of experience preferred. Experience in Combatant Command, Joint Staff, Air or Space Staff, or Major Command is advantageous.

Educational Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in computer and information sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related fields is required. A Master's degree in Cyberspace Operations or Space Operations is preferred.

Certifications:
Joint Qualified Officer (JQO) or equivalent experience is preferred.
