Position Summary:
The DAF SC2 Space Cyber Capabilities Subject Matter Expert (SME) is instrumental in supervising the application of technology across SC2 focal points. This role involves assessing potential vulnerabilities, formulating strategies to mitigate or manage those vulnerabilities, and providing insights that enhance the decision-making capabilities of Space Force and other stakeholders in the space sector, particularly concerning strategic cybersecurity threats in the space environment.

- For onsite roles, collaboration with colleagues and clients will occur in person as necessary.
- For remote positions, employees will primarily work from home but may occasionally visit an ISA or client site as required.
Key Responsibilities:
The DAF SC2 Space Cyber Capabilities SME is responsible for identifying Department of Defense (DoD), federal, and industry standards and regulatory frameworks to safeguard sensitive systems, operations, and missions within the Space Force and broader space enterprise. This role also contributes to the development, upkeep, and assessment of security policies and procedures, working closely with engineering and operational teams to ensure compliance with strategic cyberspace operations and cybersecurity mandates.
Core Duties Include:
* Familiarizing oneself with relevant DoD, federal, and industry regulations, guidelines, and best practices to effectively manage risk and ensure compliance.
* Creating, updating, or auditing security documentation such as policies, standards, and procedures.
* Evaluating the effectiveness of internal SC2 controls within the space domain.
* Communicating risk management roles to partners and securing support to enhance the DAF's cybersecurity posture in the space domain.
* Conducting analyses and integrating cyberspace operations into strategic and operational planning.
Additional Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may evolve based on project needs, and any changes will be communicated by your supervisor.
Supervisory Role:
No supervisory responsibilities are associated with this position.
Clearance Requirement:
Eligibility for TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph is necessary; current possession of TS/SCI clearance is preferred.
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 3 years supporting senior headquarters roles is required, with over 5 years preferred. Experience in Combatant Command, Joint Staff, Air or Space Staff, or Major Command is advantageous.
Educational Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in computer and information sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related fields is required. A Master’s degree in Cyberspace Operations or Space Operations is preferred.
Certification:
Preferred qualifications include Joint Qualified Officer (JQO) status or equivalent experience.
