Position Summary

The full-time faculty member in the nursing program will play a crucial role in educating and guiding students throughout their academic journey. This position involves active participation in curriculum design, program assessment, and scholarly contributions. The faculty member will also provide essential academic support and mentorship to students, alongside engaging in departmental and institutional responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive educational atmosphere that enhances student achievement and retention.
  • Contribute to the formulation, execution, and assessment of the nursing curriculum.
  • Assist in the organization of course schedules.
  • Help establish nursing program guidelines and standards.
  • Design and deliver educational experiences for students aligned with program objectives and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement classroom and laboratory activities that foster significant learning experiences.
  • Employ innovative teaching methods to address the diverse learning needs of students, utilizing technologies such as interactive video and online formats.
  • Guide students in utilizing all available educational resources, including libraries, labs, and clinical settings.
  • Engage in regular evaluations of courses and programs as mandated by accreditation standards.
  • Participate in course team meetings and nursing faculty gatherings.
  • Assist in the creation of assessment materials and analysis in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Contribute to the selection of textbooks, instructional resources, and educational equipment.
  • Supervise students in clinical settings, including patient selection and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure students demonstrate proficiency in nursing skills before engaging in patient care.
  • Timely assess and record student assignments and grades in the designated system.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.
  • Provide mentorship to new faculty members as necessary.
  • Commence classes and labs punctually and inform the appropriate administrator of any unexpected absences.
  • Report student concerns to the Director of Nursing as required.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Faculty schedules may vary each semester, with clinical hours dependent on agency availability, potentially including evenings or weekends.
  • Participate in inter-departmental and college committees as assigned.
  • Attend and engage in all faculty, committee, and program meetings.
  • Maintain professional expertise and engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Foster a professional relationship with students, colleagues, administration, and clinical staff.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing.
  • Current licensure or privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Ability to lift at least twenty-five pounds.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
