Position Overview
The Huntsville Center provides a range of academic and vocational correctional education programs to TDCJ offenders. This role involves instructing within a correctional setting, catering to either an all-male or all-female offender demographic. Enrollment consideration is contingent upon meeting academic and security standards.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver freshman and sophomore level Business courses to students within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to student development, the integration of technology in teaching, and fostering an engaging learning environment.Conduct classes in alignment with established syllabi, outlines, and instructional resources.Maintain precise student records in accordance with institutional guidelines.Submit necessary student documentation to the Admissions & Records Office as per the established timeline.Guide and assess the educational experience of students following the adopted curricula and approved methodologies.Provide support and advice to students as needed.Faculty members are expected to be present on campus for 35 hours weekly and engage in professional development, departmental meetings, commencement, and other designated activities as outlined in the Faculty Workload and Responsibilities Policy.Evening and summer class instruction may be required for faculty members.
Additional Responsibilities
Participate in College committees as assigned.Engage in professional development opportunities as appropriate.Attend the annual graduation ceremony.Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's (or higher) degree in a relevant field or a Master's (or higher) degree with eighteen (18) graduate hours in a relevant field.Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).Preferred:
- Master's (or higher) degree in Accounting or a Master's (or higher) degree with eighteen (18) graduate hours in Accounting.
