Job Summary:

The Richmond Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified Career and Technical Instructor to join our team. As a Career and Technical Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching and training students in a specialized subject, with a focus on Clinical Medical Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver instructional materials and presentations to students.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students.
  • Participate in department meetings and training sessions to stay current on best practices and policies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Provide academic advising and support to students.
  • Participate in the orientation, registration, and assessment process.
  • Complete annual professional development requirements.

Requirements:

  • Must possess required certification or license and skill in Clinical Medical Assistant.
  • Five years of experience in the field is preferred.
  • Must be knowledgeable of OSHA and various effective teaching techniques.
  • Ability to maintain and establish work schedule for evening/night courses.
  • Must be sensitive to student population, flexible, and able to follow policies and procedures.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have effective organizational and planning skills.
  • Must be knowledgeable of creative, innovative, non-traditional teaching strategies.
  • Some computer skills with Microsoft Word, Internet, and Intranet access are required.

Working Conditions:

  • Performs professional work providing teaching and/or training services to students in a specialized subject.
  • Work requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, and light lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level, and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data.
