Position Overview:

In the role of Lead Senior Program Coordinator, you will be tasked with formulating a holistic approach to unify a diverse range of senior-focused initiatives across various program sectors. You will oversee the strategic planning, organization, and implementation of programming efforts at The Salvation Army Kroc Center, ensuring that the organization's mission is effectively fulfilled.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with staff from different program sectors to schedule, design, and execute senior-focused initiatives throughout the Kroc Center.
  • Partner with the Membership Department to enhance the recruitment and retention of senior participants, particularly through external wellness incentive programs, aiming to optimize engagement for sustainable revenue.
  • Monitor outcomes and assess the effectiveness and viability of senior initiatives using established systems and methodologies.
  • Foster strong partnerships with external collaborators and vendors to support joint initiatives and broaden programming possibilities.
  • Oversee the organization and scheduling of program activities, ensuring timely execution.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of programming initiatives to assess performance, identify improvement areas, and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by leadership.

Essential Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor's degree in gerontology, social work, public health, or equivalent experience.

Background Checks: This position necessitates a background check, and all results will be reviewed.

Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working with senior citizens or in program and event management.

Certifications: A valid driver's license is required, along with adherence to The Salvation Army's driver qualification standards; completion of Safe From Harm and CPR training is expected within the first month of employment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in speaking, writing, and understanding English to facilitate effective communication with leadership, staff, and clients.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office applications and capable of learning electronic reporting systems.

Supervisory Duties: Responsible for overseeing volunteers and program assistants.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, with good hearing and vision, and excellent manual dexterity.
  • Capability to lift, pull, and push materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • May involve bending, squatting, and walking.
  • Potentially requires standing for extended periods.

Travel Requirements: As necessary.

Work Environment: Duties are performed in an office/community center setting.
