Position Overview

The Custodial Services Specialist is a full-time, non-exempt role at Denver Rescue Mission (DRM). This position requires adherence to our Statement of Faith and Ministry Principles, along with compliance with the policies outlined in the DRM Employee Handbook.

Compensation

The hiring range for this position is $18.00 to $20.55 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain cleanliness across various facilities, including shelters and community spaces, as directed by the Custodial Supervisor.
  2. Utilize cleaning equipment such as Kaivac machines, vacuums, and industrial washers to uphold sanitation standards.
  3. Complete client request forms accurately and in a timely manner.
  4. Perform thorough cleaning of windows, doors, and walls, ensuring regular sanitation practices are followed.
  5. Address spills and hazardous materials, adhering to bloodborne pathogen protocols.
  6. Ensure all cleaning equipment is well-maintained and report any necessary repairs to maintenance staff.
  7. Support infection control measures and assist with pest management protocols as required.
  8. Restock supplies and manage storage areas effectively.
  9. Dispose of waste daily and assist with the movement of larger items as needed.
  10. Handle cleaning agents in accordance with OSHA standards, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  11. Secure all storage and operational areas at the end of shifts.
  12. Train and oversee program participants in custodial tasks.
  13. Contribute to ongoing improvements in custodial services.
  14. Provide coverage for emergency shelters when necessary.
  15. Track tasks and responsibilities using project management tools.
  16. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or janitorial roles.
  • The ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Good physical condition, capable of lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols related to cleaning agents and equipment.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities throughout the workday.
  • Respectful and professional interaction with program participants.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • A valid Colorado Driver's License and a clean driving record that meets insurability standards.

Salary Range

$18.00 - $20.55 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
