Denver Rescue Mission is dedicated to assisting individuals facing homelessness and poverty through a variety of services, including emergency assistance, rehabilitation, transitional programs, and community outreach. Work Environment

Compensation

The hiring range for this position is $18.00 - $20.55 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain cleanliness across various facilities, including shelters and community spaces, as directed by the Custodial Supervisor.
  2. Utilize specialized cleaning equipment, such as floor cleaners and industrial washers, to ensure high standards of sanitation.
  3. Complete client request forms accurately and promptly.
  4. Perform regular cleaning and sanitization of windows, doors, and surfaces, utilizing appropriate cleaning agents.
  5. Respond to spills and manage cleaning protocols for hazardous materials, adhering to safety guidelines.
  6. Ensure proper maintenance of cleaning equipment and coordinate repairs as necessary.
  7. Support infection control measures and assist with pest management when required.
  8. Restock supplies and manage inventory in storage areas.
  9. Conduct daily waste disposal and assist with the movement of larger items.
  10. Handle cleaning chemicals safely, following OSHA regulations and using personal protective equipment.
  11. Secure all cleaning storage areas and facilities after use.
  12. Provide training and supervision to program participants in custodial tasks.
  13. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives within the custodial department.
  14. Fulfill additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  15. Offer support to emergency shelters as needed.
  16. Document work activities using designated tracking tools.

Qualifications

  1. Previous experience in housekeeping or janitorial services is preferred.
  2. Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
  3. Physical capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds using proper techniques.
  4. Knowledge of safety protocols related to cleaning agents and equipment.
  5. Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  6. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities throughout the workday.
  7. Competence in promoting infection control and addressing pest issues effectively.
  8. Professional demeanor and respect towards program participants.
  9. Proficiency in English for effective communication.
  10. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  11. Strong attention to detail.
  12. Possession of a valid Colorado Driver's License and willingness to undergo a background check.

Salary Range

The salary for this position ranges from $18.00 to $20.55 per hour.
