Facilities Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance:
  • Plan, execute, and finalize routine preventative maintenance tasks as outlined in the Quality Management System.
  • Support the site's HVAC systems and water cooling towers through minor maintenance efforts.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and outline corrective actions.
  • Ensure timely and professional communication regarding project statuses, supplier meetings, and ongoing initiatives. Develop and document processes, work instructions, and maintenance schedules to uphold the Quality Management System.

Facilities and Operations:
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment, ensuring essential systems are regularly inspected and documented to meet operational expectations.
  • Oversee and manage external vendor services, ensuring compliance with scope and standards while fostering strong vendor relationships.
  • Possess knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazardous waste management, and safety protocols, applying them effectively.
  • Coordinate safety training programs for Forklift operations, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and Emergency Response Teams.
  • Conduct investigations into critical facility system failures and develop corrective action plans.
  • Create and maintain standardized work processes and documentation.
  • Engage in Safety Committee activities to promote a secure workplace for all employees.

General Building Maintenance:
  • Oversee the management of building facilities, utilities, and grounds, providing documentation and recommendations for future actions.
  • Be available on-call for emergencies, including security issues, alarms, leaks, and other critical incidents.
  • Coordinate janitorial services and cleaning schedules, collaborating with leadership to align with business priorities.
  • Promote facility cleanliness and implement 5S methodologies.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all facility vendors and their services.
  • Deliver or subcontract maintenance services efficiently and professionally, working closely with the leadership team.
  • This role is expected to be fully onsite.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:
  • 3-5 years of hands-on facilities management experience, particularly in mechanical maintenance.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and the ability to develop corrective action programs.
  • General knowledge of HVAC, compressors, vacuum systems, and cooling towers.
  • Basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs.

Tool Proficiency:
  • Intermediate proficiency with power tools is preferred; familiarity with hand tools is essential.
  • Experience in project management and acting as the primary contact point.
  • Experience with facilities management software and effective documentation practices.
  • Commercial or industrial experience in a hands-on role is required, with a well-rounded background in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems.
  • Preferred candidates will possess analytical skills to address issues effectively.
