Facilities Systems Engineer

The Facilities Systems Engineer is tasked with overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, ensuring optimal performance across various domains such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
ROLE OVERVIEW
This position is integral to the Engineering and Technical Services function, focusing on delivering support, preventive maintenance, and repair services for essential equipment and systems.
WORK SCHEDULE
Standard hours are Monday through Friday, with flexibility required for weekend duties as necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to all relevant codes, regulations, and company policies regarding building operations and safety protocols.
- Conduct inspections of building systems, including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing, to ensure compliance with design specifications and environmental standards.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of external contractors engaged in landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbing, and cleaning services.
- Perform emergency and preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
- Review and prioritize work orders, estimating time and materials required for completion.
- Procure necessary materials and supplies to fulfill maintenance tasks.
- Implement energy management strategies to enhance operational efficiency and minimize costs.
- Manage the building lighting system, including repairs and replacements of components.
- Execute welding, carpentry, furniture assembly, and locksmith duties as required.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, coordinating additional assistance as needed.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
SUPERVISORY ROLE
This position does not entail formal supervisory responsibilities but may involve providing informal guidance and training to colleagues.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship. Candidates should have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of four years of relevant experience or trade school training.
- Experience in engineering with a focus on HVAC, electrical systems, and building management systems.
- Preferred experience in clean room or controlled environments, as well as familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Life sciences experience is advantageous.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
Commitment to personal safety and the safety of others affected by your work is essential. Electrical safety training or certification is a plus.
CERTIFICATIONS
Universal EPA certification is preferred, along with additional certifications in relevant fields such as electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or carpentry, as required by local regulations.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Candidates should meet the physical demands of the role, including the ability to lift heavy objects and perform various physical tasks. Strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are also required.
