The Facilities Operations Engineer plays a crucial role in assisting management with the daily management of all building systems. This encompasses maintenance and repair of hard surfaces, basic carpentry, metalwork, and the operation, upkeep, and repair of all facility system equipment related to HVAC and mechanical and electrical systems. The Facilities Operations Engineer will also address customer inquiries, manage work orders, and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts maintenance and repairs on buildings, utilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Enhances the repair and upkeep of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. Implements best practices to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and system issues efficiently.
- Ensures continuous operation of equipment through effective troubleshooting and repairs.
- Provides hands-on training and collaborates with fellow engineering team members.
- Encourages a work culture that emphasizes energy conservation and ongoing improvement of engineering functions.
- Documents all relevant data in building logbooks and makes necessary daily entries.
- Performs utility and equipment testing.
- Schedules preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Maintains equipment related to life/safety and security systems as part of the Engineer's responsibilities.
- Records essential data on all equipment in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Handles administrative paperwork in line with departmental policies and procedures.
- Actively participates as a team member.
- Assists in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensures adherence by the team.
- Conducts daily building inspections through regular site audits.
- Demonstrates a commitment to service quality.
- Adheres to ABM Industries and facilities' policies and procedures.
- Participates in the safety program of ABM Industries.
- Engages in facility-specific safety initiatives.
- Maintains consistent attendance in the workplace.
- Delivers the highest quality of service to tenants, staff, and visitors.
- Engages in regular communication with the Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, management, tenants, and other staff.
- Performs additional duties as required.
- Experience relevant to the specific facility for the Engineer position.
- Minimum of 5 years in an engineering role within a similar environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Possession of the highest-level relevant state/local license for Stationary Engineer and/or HVAC & Universal level refrigerant recovery license.
- Proficient in computer skills, including Google Workspace, CMMS database & ticketing systems, and building automation systems (BAS).
- Certification meeting OSHA ACM awareness training requirements as necessary.
- Working knowledge of energy conservation is required; formal training is preferred.
The listed pay represents the salary/hourly range for this position. Actual offers will vary based on the successful applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
