Position Overview
  • Objective: This role encompasses the administration of radiation therapy in accordance with physician directives. The clinical radiation specialist collaborates with various healthcare professionals to ensure that each patient receives precise and high-quality treatment in a supportive environment. The primary focus is on facilitating a seamless transition through all stages of patient care.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Required: Completion of a 2-year Diagnostic School Program plus 1 year of experience
      • Preferred: Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy Program
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: A.R.R.T. Registration, California State Certificate (CRT), American Heart Association BLS Certification
    • Experience
      • Preferred: 1-3 years of direct experience in acute patient treatment
  • Key Responsibilities
    • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and compliance policies, addressing any compliance concerns promptly.
    • Administer radiation therapy treatments with high technical accuracy, ensuring proper setup and calculation parameters.
    • Process and capture orthogonal/port films as prescribed, adhering to departmental protocols.
    • Manage scheduling for new patients and current treatment sessions, ensuring timely communication with team members regarding any changes.
    • Implement safety protocols and proper lifting techniques when handling patients and equipment, reporting any malfunctions or safety incidents immediately.
    • Conduct patient simulations and design custom blocking, ensuring optimal patient comfort and reproducibility.
    • Utilize computer systems for precise calculations.
    • Maintain accurate billing for radiation therapy services.
    • Ensure a clean and organized work environment, restocking supplies and disinfecting equipment as necessary.
    • Perform daily quality assurance checks on treatment machines and report any discrepancies to the physicist.
    • Contribute to team efforts in documentation, supply management, and enhancing patient satisfaction.
    • Participate in weekly chart rounds and engage actively when appropriate.
