Position Overview:

Child Action, Inc. (CAI) is a dedicated non-profit organization established to enhance the education and welfare of children and families. Our mission encompasses providing resource and referral services for families in search of child care, offering subsidies for eligible families, and fostering the professional growth of the child care workforce.

We are looking for individuals who exhibit exceptional organizational skills, can manage multiple tasks efficiently, deliver outstanding customer service, and possess strong problem-solving abilities. A deep understanding of the challenges faced by families from diverse backgrounds is essential.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive child care information and referrals to the community.
  • Offer guidance and support to families during their child care search.
  • Assist families in accessing vital community services.
  • Provide insights on eligibility and subsidy programs to help families secure sustainable child care solutions.
  • Facilitate enrollment for families in the Child Care Eligibility List (CEL) and manage a designated caseload.
  • Verify referral information for the Foster Care Bridge Program to ensure accurate client enrollment.
  • Review program policies and expectations with both parents and child care providers.
  • Maintain compliance with funding requirements through diligent caseload management.
  • Engage with resource families and social workers to evaluate child care options.
  • Provide expert advice on child development and parenting matters.
  • Process payments for child care providers associated with the Foster Care Bridge Program.
  • Ensure accuracy in billing forms submitted by child care providers.
  • Utilize market rates and schedules to calculate payments accurately.
  • Document and reconcile payment records in accordance with deadlines.
  • Support the development of other Child Care Specialists as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date resource files on child care services.
  • Gather and analyze data on child care supply and demand.
  • Stay informed about trauma-informed care principles and interventions.
  • Regularly update referral files with current child care providers.
  • Contribute to community education initiatives and events.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Document participant activities for reporting and service planning.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for caregivers and child care professionals.
  • Continuously seek ways to enhance workflow efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
  • Associate's degree in a relevant field; two years of additional professional experience may substitute for educational requirements.
  • At least one year of administrative or related experience.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management.
  • Familiarity with childcare subsidy program regulations.
  • Strong understanding of child development systems and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with diverse populations.
  • Ability to assess and address client needs with sensitivity.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
  • Willingness to comply with safety and ergonomic policies.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
Physical Requirements:
  • Primarily sedentary work in an office environment, with occasional outdoor activities.
  • Visual acuity and dexterity for operating office equipment.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work and meet tight deadlines.
  • Travel may be required for this position.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate
