Position Summary

The Process Optimization Engineer will manage the Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) program, conduct sizing of relief valves, and deliver process support and troubleshooting for various process units. This role also involves contributing to the execution of capital projects and performing process analysis and design for olefin, oxides, oxide derivatives, and specialty chemical production units. Key responsibilities include identifying, defining, justifying, and executing both capital and non-capital improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and aligning with business goals. Additionally, this position engages in troubleshooting unit issues, conducting process hazard analyses, and providing analytical support for operational units.

Responsibilities

- Champion safety and promote safe practices by actively participating in Personal Safety initiatives and Process Safety Management activities.

- Engage in process design reviews, including Design Package evaluations, Hazard and Operability studies (HAZOP), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Incident Investigations, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).

- Enhance personal skills in a wide array of process engineering tools, encompassing process simulation, heat transfer design, fluid dynamics analysis, and distillation/separation design.

- Develop improvement strategies and conduct feasibility studies, including high-level project scoping and economic assessments. Deliver process engineering design through the Front End Loading stages 1, 2, and 3.

- Complete Process Design Packages to facilitate process enhancements, which include the development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and preliminary process control strategies.

Qualifications

- Extensive experience in process engineering, particularly with Area A processes.

- In-depth knowledge of equipment and historical failure analysis.

- Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) hazards and previous Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and Layers of Protection Analyses (LOPAs).

Education Requirements

- A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred; degrees in other engineering or related fields will be considered with relevant experience.
