Position Overview

We are looking for Senior Chemical Process Engineers to provide expertise in either Naphtha Reforming or Distillation technology.

In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient operation of our facilities, leading initiatives to enhance unit performance in safety, production, and reliability within a collaborative team environment. Your strategic thinking, thoughtful execution, and ability to work across various teams and levels will be crucial. You will act as a senior technical resource, offering operational insights to navigate complex processes across business units.

As a Complex Engineer, your responsibilities will include setting long-term visions for unit performance and troubleshooting, alongside supporting daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical leader within the business team by:
    • Guiding junior engineers on design methodologies, unit health assessments, and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Providing off-hours support for unusual and non-routine operations, including unit Turnarounds.
    • Assisting in the formulation of long-term strategies for product line enhancements.
    • Coordinating and designing plant testing and product trials.
    • Collaborating with supervisors to establish clear objectives and ensure alignment of priorities for the technical team.
    • Influencing team members and driving solutions without direct authority.
  • Collaborate in a team setting with other engineering disciplines, operations, and mechanical personnel while interfacing with corporate technology support.
    • Ability to engage with third-party vendors for cost optimization and solution development.
  • Serve as a process safety resource on the business team, leading Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOPs) and Risk Assessments by formulating closure plans for identified risks.
    • Lead and support incident investigations as the technical authority.
  • Assist in the development and execution of various capital projects aimed at enhancing margins or reducing SHE risks.
  • Provide on-site support during plant startups, shutdowns, or operational disruptions.
  • Exhibit the courage to foster constructive discussions between the business team and corporate technology support to achieve optimal outcomes.
Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering.
  • Over 10 years of experience in Downstream Oil and Gas Refining, with specific expertise in either Distillation or Naphtha Reforming Technology.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Experience in process design.
  • Familiarity with advanced control strategies and optimization software.
  • Knowledge of RBI practices (corrosion damage mechanisms, mitigations, etc.).
  • Experience in risk assessment and HAZOP methodologies.
  • Understanding of safety relief limits and related modeling evaluations.
  • Proficiency in modeling software (PROII, ASPEN, etc.).
  • Experience with Kinetic Modeling (SOL, KBC Profimatics, etc.).
