Position Overview

We are in search of experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineers to provide support in either Naphtha Reforming or Distillation technology.

As a Senior Chemical Process Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the effective operation of our facilities, spearheading enhancements to unit performance in safety, production, and reliability within a collaborative team setting. Your strategic thinking, thoughtful execution, and ability to collaborate across various teams and levels will be essential. In this capacity, you will act as a senior technical resource, offering expertise to navigate complex processes across business units.

Your responsibilities will include establishing long-term visions for unit performance and troubleshooting, alongside managing daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical authority on the business team by:
    • Guiding junior engineers on design methodologies, unit health assessments, and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Providing off-hours assistance for unusual and non-standard operations, including unit Turnarounds.
    • Contributing to the formulation of long-term strategies for product line enhancements.
    • Coordinating and designing plant testing and product trials.
    • Collaborating with supervisors to set clear objectives and ensure alignment of priorities for the technical team.
    • Influencing stakeholders and driving solutions without direct authority.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, interfacing with operations and mechanical personnel, as well as corporate technology support.
    • Engage with third-party vendors for cost optimization and solution development.
  • Serve as a process safety expert on the business team, leading Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOPs) and Risk Assessments, while developing strategies for identified risks.
    • Lead and support incident investigations as the technical authority.
  • Assist in the development and execution of various capital projects aimed at enhancing margins or mitigating SHE risks.
  • Provide on-site support during plant startups, shutdowns, or operational disturbances.
  • Exhibit the courage to foster constructive tension between the business team and corporate technology support to ensure optimal outcomes.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Downstream Oil and Gas Refining, particularly in Distillation or Naphtha Reforming Technology.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience in process design.
  • Familiarity with advanced control strategies and optimization software.
  • Knowledge of RBI practices, including corrosion damage mechanisms and mitigations.
  • Experience with risk assessment and HAZOP methodologies.
  • Understanding of safety relief limits, including modeling and evaluations.
  • Proficiency in modeling software such as PROII and ASPEN.
  • Experience with Kinetic Modeling tools like SOL and KBC Profimatics.
