Job Overview:

Privacy Analyst II
The Privacy Coordinator will collaborate with the Senior Compliance & Accountability Official and assist the DSHS Privacy Officer.

Key responsibilities encompass overseeing the privacy hotline and general mailbox; evaluating privacy policies and procedures that affect DSHS; aiding in the investigation of privacy incidents as directed by the DSHS Privacy Officer; delivering trend analysis of privacy incidents; and crafting program-specific privacy training.

This role will also serve as an alternate member of the Data Governance Council, providing support to the DSHS Privacy Officer.

Core Responsibilities:
CR1. (35%) Gathers and assesses privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures. Collaborates with programs to resolve any discrepancies between program and agency policy.

Consults with the DSHS Privacy Officer on state and federal statutes concerning privacy, including HIPAA, and integrates these requirements into existing policies for compliance.

Aids programs in revising or formulating privacy policies and procedures for specific data sets.
CR2. (25%) Establishes and documents a privacy reporting framework, including drafting necessary forms.
CR3.

(20%) Assists the DSHS Privacy Officer in documenting incident reports; collecting information and documents for incident investigations; monitoring general mailbox and voice mail; and may coordinate with agency investigators as requested by the DSHS Privacy Officer.

CR4. (15%) Develops training materials specific to privacy, including reporting obligations.
CR5. (5%) Performs additional duties as assigned.

Additional responsibilities may include active participation and/or support to fulfill the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or continuity of operations activation.

Such involvement may necessitate an alternate shift pattern, assignment, and/or location.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient understanding of HIPAA, information privacy, federal and state privacy laws, and/or compliance with regulatory directives.

Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.

Experience in preparing oral and written reports, managing projects, and facilitating meetings.

Capability to prepare effective correspondence and reports for diverse audiences, including executives and senior managers.

Ability to collect, analyze information, and resolve work-related issues.

Capacity to make independent judgments and provide guidance to agency personnel.

Familiarity with public health and/or health and human services programs is preferred.

Experience in developing policies and regulations is preferred.
