Position Overview: The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is in search of a proficient Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist to enhance our operations. Our mission is centered on safeguarding the environment, ensuring the preservation of air quality, water resources, and effective waste management practices.

Ideal Candidates Will Have Experience In:

  • Utilizing ESRI ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise for web-based mapping solutions
  • Employing ESRI ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Desktop for comprehensive map creation
  • Producing map outputs and conducting spatial analyses using programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, and Python

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support TCEQ's objectives through various Information Resources initiatives
  • Develop ArcGIS Web maps, Dashboards, and Stories that incorporate spatial and environmental datasets
  • Oversee and authenticate spatial databases
  • Assist in the collection and dissemination of geospatial information pertinent to TCEQ's goals

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a degree in computer science or a related discipline, complemented by a minimum of two years of GIS experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
