Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Officer 2 to join our team at the Central Office. As a Business Officer 2, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing various business operations, ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee business operations, including budgeting, financial planning, and reporting.
  • Develop and implement business strategies to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless business operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff members to ensure they have the necessary resources and tools to perform their duties effectively.
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, candidates must be employed by New York State and meet the minimum qualifications outlined below.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Business Officer 1, Administrative Specialist 1, Assistant Office Services Manager, Contract Management Specialist 1, Head Account Clerk, Health Facilities Management Assistant, Human Resources Specialist 1, Nutrition Services Administrator 1, Purchasing Agent, Senior Accountant, Senior Auditor, Senior Budgeting Analyst, Senior Health Care Fiscal Analyst, Resource and Reimbursement Agent 1, or Resource and Reimbursement Agent 2.
Transfer Opportunity

Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and have permanent status as a Business Officer 2, G-23, may be eligible for a lateral transfer. Additionally, candidates who are eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law may also be considered.

Promotional Opportunity

In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to potentially conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Business Officer 2, Grade 23, at the Office of Mental Health, Central Office. Permanent appointments may be made by non-competitive promotion of applicants who meet the position's minimum qualifications if all requirements of a non-competitive promotion appointment are met.

Provisional Opportunity

In the event that there is not a valid eligible list, candidates who meet the following promotion qualifications may be qualified for a provisional appointment:

  • One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c service as a Business Officer 1, Administrative Specialist 1, Assistant Office Services Manager, Contract Management Specialist 1, Head Account Clerk, Health Facilities Management Assistant, Human Resources Specialist 1, Nutrition Services Administrator 1, Purchasing Agent, Senior Accountant, Senior Auditor, Senior Budgeting Analyst, Senior Health Care Fiscal Analyst, Resource and Reimbursement Agent 1, or Resource and Reimbursement Agent 2.

If you are provisionally appointed, you must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title and your score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before you can be permanently appointed. If you do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score, you may not be retained.
