Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team at the New York State Office of Mental Health. As a key member of our Administrative Support Services Group, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance for physical plant operations and maintenance, as well as supporting the day-to-day operations of Central Office Operations Support Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support at various locations, including 44 Holland and 150 Broadway.
  • Build and configure office space to meet the needs of our team.
  • Respond to deficiencies and assess building complaints, including temperature, lighting, and odor issues.
  • Work with supervisors and managers to confirm design plans and identify potential building improvements.
  • Perform physical tasks, such as removal of surplus equipment.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson. Alternatively, you may have completed an appropriate two-year technical school course or an equivalent combination of experience and training. A valid New York State driver's license is preferred but not required.
