Job Summary

As an Office Assistant 2, you will play a critical role in supporting the Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (S-EBT) program, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of data entry, and providing exceptional customer service to clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform data entry of S-EBT applications into the online portal, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all data elements.
  • Contact applicant households to clarify any unclear, illegible, or missing information.
  • File a copy of the application in designated electronic or paper filing systems.
  • Conduct on-site reviews and produce monitoring reports of local district TA operations.
  • Assist with looking up client/case information to support Program Aids and Temporary Assistance Specialists with S-EBT application review and determination.
  • Proofread and format drafts of client correspondence, including dispute findings from supervisory staff.
  • Answer client phone calls, research case records, and document client issues.
  • Take part in the S-EBT dispute process, managing, logging, and tracking documentation of client disputes.
  • Ensure confidentiality of information is maintained at all times.
Requirements
  • One year of clerical experience.
  • Eligible for a lateral transfer or eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law by having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title.
  • Provisional Qualifications: On or before November 5, 2022, you must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher.

Full-time, permanent or provisional appointments will be made. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
