The primary function of this role is to ensure ongoing safety, security, vigilance, and awareness to manage the facility and its residents in alignment with company policies and contractual obligations. This position is crucial for maintaining resident accountability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (MAY INCLUDE ADDITIONAL TASKS AS ASSIGNED BY SUPERVISOR)

  • Facilitate the arrival of residents following established protocols and contractual guidelines. Conduct an inventory of personal belongings upon their entry into the facility.
  • Meticulously document all activities and report the number of residents entering or exiting the facility as per company and contractual standards.
  • Conduct facility counts at designated intervals and ensure logbooks are accurate by reporting precise counts of all residents assigned to the facility as instructed.
  • Receive and relay reports of essential information from the previous shift regarding events that occurred during that time.
  • Oversee the sign-in/sign-out procedures and all movements of residents and visitors.
  • Monitor surveillance systems to observe facility activity and report any unauthorized movements.
  • Perform equipment checks to ensure all operational tools are functional for each shift, including radios, flashlights, and keys.
  • Ensure all shift reports, work orders, security reports, and unusual incidents are documented clearly and concisely, meeting facility standards and contractual requirements.
  • Regularly patrol the facility to observe and listen to residents, ensuring the overall state of the facility is maintained.
  • Supervise resident work assignments to help uphold facility cleanliness and ensure compliance with company and contractual standards.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled cleanliness inspections of the facility and resident quarters, ensuring personal belongings are kept in a clean and orderly fashion to meet health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the distribution of medication and first aid supplies to residents.
  • Act as a liaison between residents and case managers to facilitate effective communication.
  • Accurately report any issues or violations of contractual agency prohibited acts and company policies.
  • Assist case managers during searches of residents' vehicles.
  • Monitor the telephone system from control booths and maintain a photo ID log for all residents.
  • Inspect items brought into the facility by residents and visitors to prevent the introduction of contraband.
  • Conduct random and scheduled pat searches, as well as alcohol tests (breathalyzer) and urine specimens on residents, following established protocols and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all staff levels to promote teamwork.
  • Engage with residents in a professional manner to foster their self-esteem and dignity while maintaining positive relations.
  • Ensure confidentiality regarding employees, vendors, residents, or external agencies, sharing sensitive information only on a need-to-know basis.
  • Assist with meal service in the absence of food service personnel.
  • Transport residents using company vehicles as needed.
  • Maintain an inventory of personal belongings for residents who leave unexpectedly.
  • Keep First Aid and CPR certifications current.
  • Participate in all mandatory training and staff development sessions.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

Minimum of one year of experience in a security or customer service role, preferably within a correctional environment.

Proven effectiveness in both written and verbal communication; First Aid and CPR certifications (training provided); valid driver's license and a clean driving record are preferred.

ABILITIES:

  • Learn and apply contractual requirements related to community corrections and accountability.
  • Work a rotating schedule, including overtime as necessary.
  • Establish authority and communicate for clarity.
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and staff; identify and report issues promptly and accurately.
  • Administer First Aid and CPR when required.
  • Drive company vehicles as needed.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures set forth by the company and contracting agency.
  • Meet clearance requirements set by the contracting agency.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma or equivalent is required (an Associate's Degree is preferred).
