POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Maintenance Lead is tasked with supervising and coordinating the activities of personnel responsible for the upkeep and repair of facilities, equipment, and machinery. This role is crucial in supporting the Maintenance and Operations Department through systems development, cost management, technical training, capital project oversight, and addressing safety, environmental, and health concerns. The position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing equipment issues independently and guiding mechanics during downtime to resolve mechanical failures.
  • Collaborating with the operations team to foster a cooperative environment that leverages the strengths of both departments.
  • Setting project priorities and directing maintenance staff, while monitoring performance to ensure quality work and service delivery.
  • Providing leadership through the Performance Management System, aligning expectations with business objectives, and offering regular performance feedback.
  • Managing the PDCA process, including problem identification, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Working with improvement teams to identify and execute reliability enhancement initiatives through procedural changes and equipment upgrades.
  • Developing and communicating procedures that align with maintenance strategies.
  • Implementing preventive and predictive maintenance practices to reduce equipment failures.
  • Leading electrical and mechanical troubleshooting efforts, with a solid understanding of various voltage systems.
  • Establishing and maintaining a preventive maintenance program, reviewing completion rates, and adjusting frequencies as necessary.
  • Assisting in the recruitment and training of new maintenance staff.
  • Understanding production line control and ensuring a balanced workflow.
  • Analyzing data to set performance measures and targets.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in repairing all types of plant machinery.
  • Possessing the skills to troubleshoot common electrical issues.
  • Exhibiting the capability to fabricate necessary supports and structures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overseeing a team of 3-10 employees.
  • Ensuring staff retention through effective recruitment, orientation, and training.
  • Communicating job expectations and assessing performance results.
  • Setting strategic goals and evaluating outcomes.
  • Exhibiting strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrating attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Exhibiting excellent time management abilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • A college degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using a PC and business information systems/software.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the food and beverage sector.
  • Background in manufacturing or production environments.
  • Skills in report writing.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Consultative and strategic thinking abilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This role requires physical capability to work in various settings, including office and field environments.

FREQUENT: Ability to communicate effectively; stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds; operate machinery and equipment.

OCCASIONAL: Engaging in tasks that require squatting, kneeling, and lifting objects weighing 20-35 lbs.
