Job OverviewPosition Summary:

This full-time, non-exempt role is responsible for overseeing a skilled team of Monitors, ensuring the safety, security, and sanitation of the facility in alignment with company and contractual obligations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, train, and assess the performance of operational monitors.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of work schedules to ensure adequate coverage for each shift.
  • Guarantee that resident supervisors fulfill all required duties for their shifts in accordance with established protocols.
  • Monitor compliance with all accountability measures mandated by contracts.
  • Provide training for new hires, address and resolve complaints, implement corrective actions, and manage leave requests.
  • Conduct inquiries into resident misconduct incidents.
  • Ensure ongoing orientation and training for operational monitors regarding company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, residents, and visitors, employing tact and sound judgment.
  • Perform inspections of living quarters and communal areas to uphold standards of security, health, and sanitation; guide staff and residents in addressing identified issues.
  • Review and process reports generated during shifts, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Take appropriate measures to prevent or mitigate potentially disruptive situations.
  • Ensure sufficient staffing levels in designated areas and fill in as necessary during shortages.
  • Verify that all monitors maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Participate in mandatory training and development programs.
  • Maintain proficiency in supervisory skills and contribute to the evaluation of operational monitors.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the Director of Operations or Senior Operations Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

A minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Operations Monitor or two (2) years in a related field is required. Leadership experience is preferred. Valid First Aid and CPR certifications, along with a clean driving record, are mandatory.

KNOWLEDGE:

Understanding of modern correctional practices related to resident accountability; familiarity with the Statement of Work from contracting agencies; knowledge of company policies and procedures; awareness of the supervisory responsibilities and the roles of resident supervisors.

ABILITIES:

Ability to work a rotating schedule; establish authority and communicate effectively; proficient in both oral and written communication; practice teamwork and conflict management; conduct thorough investigations and prepare detailed reports; identify and address issues promptly; assign tasks and ensure their completion; organize and manage resources effectively; train, evaluate, and document personnel actions; build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues; meet clearance requirements set by contracting agencies.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required. An associate's degree is preferred, along with advanced training in supervisory or management practices.
